Welcome to UHAA-PNW

Welcome to the Official Web Site for the University of Hawai'i Alumni Association - Pacific Northwest Chapter.

Our mission is "to establish a University of Hawai'i Alumni Association 'ohana in the Pacific Northwest that reaches out to all alumni and friends to promote a positive image and the Aloha Spirit of the University in the Northwest region".

The Pacific Northwest Chapter also provides an environment for UH Alumni to build friendships, to stay informed on UHAA news and events, and to share the pride of being UH Alumni. We use our time, energy and money each year to support the incoming UH students from our region.

Annual UH Alumni & Student Send Off Picnic

LOCATION: ENATAI BEACH PARK  89th Avenue SE Mercer Island Bellevue WA 9804

July 23, 2011 - Wuu-Hoo! Yet another grand gathering for our Pacific Northwest Chapter of the University of Hawaii Alumni and friends! This is our favorite event because it involves the newest members of our school’s students… one of our higher purposes for existence!

Our list of members and guests included 16 freshmen and transferring students and about 3 times that many family members and friends, along with about 20 of our membership. Our guests and friends had a wonderful time and even donated to our cause with money and food. That was a pleasant surprise since it was not expected of guests! That just shows what special people we have in our UH ranks.

The event would not have been the huge success it was without the super-human efforts of Dawn Mallory, our chapter president and the picnic committee: Karen and Ted Nagata, George and Char Hamano, Karen and John Yoneda, Chris Slaven, Gracie Nagamatsu and Sonja Nordmark.

Our food list was humongous! With secret recipes from chefs and members alike and everyone eating to their heart’s content, we still managed to donate food to the St Jude’s homeless tent community in Redmond, WA when we were done. Pretty fun.

Check out our gallery on Facebook and our website and see for yourself.

UH Picnic is on the top level with beach and kayak rental below . . . .

LAST YEAR  . . . .
In typical fashion, there was a lot of "ono" food. Jay Yoshizawa was the master of the grill, serving up excellent teriyaki beef ribs, veggie burgers and hot dogs graciously donated by Mark and his wife Gracie and the Yoneda family, John, Karen & Heidi. Our wonderful members and friends brought delightful and delicious dishes to go along with that and scrumptious desserts.

The live music was out of this world with the beautiful Iwalani, and her bird-like voice with Uncle Danny Kaopuiki, who charmed us all. It was amazing!

The event would have not been the huge success it was without the hard working efforts of Dawn Mallory, our chapter president and the picnic committee: Gracie Nagamatsu, Karen Yoneda, Jay Yoshizawa, John Yoneda, Heidi Yoneda, Richard Asztalos and Danny Kaopuiki

The fun included a many gift giveaways with great University of Hawai'i logo gear and welcoming of the new UH-bound students with leis, Zippy's gift cards, school supplies and other goodies.
